A few months ago, I saw a post online that read “nothing in this life will ever prepare you for how far away Bethel Park is.” I (and anyone else who lives around here) had a good, knowing laugh over that one.
I was born in Bethel Park and grew up on McKnight Drive. Although my family and I moved away after I finished the 4th grade, I took so many fond memories with me – playing in the “crick” at the bottom of Monongahela Avenue, meeting up with my cousin Stephanie (Miss Stephanie to everyone else) for her after school children’s programs at the Bethel Park Library, stuffing my face with band hoagies, and riding my bike up and down our dead-end street with my friends until the sun set.
After receiving my bachelor’s degree from Westminster College, I met my husband Ben, a Bethel Park graduate, and we bought our first home together one door down from the house his father grew up in, right off Logan Road. After all those years, no matter how far away it seemed, Bethel Park always felt like coming home.
Ultimately, my main goal in running for Bethel Park municipal council is this – I want everyone in Bethel Park, young folks to the young at heart, visitors to longtime residents, to feel like this is a place they can call home, a place they’ll want to visit time and time again.
I hope you’ll support me on this journey, and if you’re not from around here…take the time to drive out our way. It may take a little while to get here, but I promise it’s worth the trip.
