About Liz
Liz Avon has lived in Bethel Park for over ten years with her husband, Ben Avon, who is a lifelong resident. Ben’s love for Bethel Park is contagious and caused Liz to develop a strong sense of Hawk Pride many years ago.
Liz grew up in central New Jersey and went to college at the University of Maryland. Due in part to the diverse curriculum and A.P. classes offered in her high school, Liz was able to graduate from the University of Maryland with three minors in three years. Liz then spent a year teaching high school students in Angers, France, where she gained a strong understanding and respect for teachers. Liz ultimately returned to the U.S. to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
Liz has been a practicing attorney for over a dozen years throughout western Pennsylvania. Liz’s practice centers around family law as well as criminal law and fertility law. However, Liz has also worked as a solicitor for various town councils, zoning commissions, and a few school boards. Attending other townships’ community meetings made it clear to Liz that she wanted to get involved with Bethel Park’s school board.
Liz is the proud mother of two little girls. The oldest of whom will hopefully be enrolled in kindergarten at Bethel Park’s new elementary center the first year it opens. Liz’s goal is to become actively involved as a school director to help the community grow and develop along with its new elementary center concurrently with her children beginning their educational careers.
Liz understands the importance of clear, professional communication with all citizens of Bethel Park, regardless of whether they have children in the school district or not. The successes and failures of the school district have a direct impact on every member of our community. Her goal is to make sure that township’s thoughts and concerns are considered when school district decisions are made. Liz will strive to make sure that every child feels included, represented, and safe while at school in Bethel Park. Liz will work hard to work with Bethel Park’s teachers, staff, students, parents, and the community as a whole to help Bethel Park reach its highest potential.
Go Hawks!
